When you think of spas, you are most likely envisioning a space equipped with the most modern high tech amenities and accessories. However, if you think about it, you'll realize that spas are all about pampering and relaxation, not about the latest and greatest spa developments.
Most of the spa therapies can be accomplished quite inexpensively if you want to create a spa experience at home. Here are some home spa therapies you can easily recreate on a budget:
Create a Spa Accessory Kit:
This kit is for your personal use only. Keep it under the bed or in the attic if you have to. Fill this with some awesome bath products that you love: revitalizing bath salts, loofah sponges, great large sea sponges, bubble baths, sea salt scrubs, aromatherapy oils, body creams, etc. You know what you love. This is something you will only bring out on your spa days. You don't have to fill this all at once, but as you find great products add them to your basket.
Aromatherapy is a Standard Spa Technique:
Save some special candles used only on your spa days. Choose them by color, scent, shape, or whatever makes you feel good.
For more ways to enjoy aromatherapy in your bath you can use aromatherapy oils. You can also purchase a small fogger for use in the bathroom and fill with the scent of the day. You can also place a reed diffuser near the tub to add additional scent to your bathing area.
Lighting Sets the Mood
You can help to replicate the spa mood by dimming the lights and lighting some candles. You can also replace your lightbulbs with bulbs of color to enhance your mood. Peach or pink lightbulbs will change the mood of the room and help bring in the spa experience.
Enjoy a Spa Bath:
Fill you bath with whatever you feel in the mood for. Epsom salts are a wonderful addition to rejuvenate your body. Essential oil aromatherapy is great for relaxation. Pick and choose from your accessory kit whatever bath products you are in the mood for on your spa day.
An inflatable pillow that attaches to the tub will enhance your sense of luxury. With your favorite drink at hand, and a good book if you like to read in the tub, you will soon be in spa land.
Plan on spending at least 30 minutes soaking in your relaxing bath. When ready to move on, be sure you have some especially thick spa quality towels you use only for this day. Also if possible, a thick white spa quality robe will enhance your bathing experience as you create a spa experience at home.
Enjoy other Spa Activities if You Have the Time:
Facial
A facial can be enjoyed while you are relaxing in the tub. You'll find this a wonderfully pampering experience. There are many recipes and instructions you can use on the internet.
Manicure and Pedicure
After your bath is the perfect time to give yourself a manicure, pedicure, or even both if you have the time.
Eye Therapy
Once your beauty regimen is done, finish up with some therapy for the eyes. Place wet teabags or cucumber slices on your eyes, lie down, and relax for a few minutes. Finish up with some eye cream and your relaxing day of pampering is done.
Lay back, pamper and indulge yourself knowing that everyone around you will benefit from this time you give yourself. When you create a spa experience at home and set up this time for relaxation and rejuvenation you are not being selfish. Put value on yourself and others will also put value on you.
